02/26/22: I Dreamt of Norm MacDonald

If my eyes are closed I’m dreaming. I try to write the vivid ones down:

Norm MacDonald passed away a few weeks before our little ride-along. His battle with cancer was long and secret and shocking. Losing people I love similarly was obviously on my mind, but I honestly only discovered that in making this comic.

One of the goals here was to see if I could co-write with my subconscious. Take a real dream, think about what it might mean, and then try to present it in a way that anyone can get something out of it. Of course, it’s been reworked and reframed in the telling, but there are more than a few lines that are exactly as I remember them:

“Time I do got, I’m gonna use. Do more shows than Johnny Carson!”

I’ve been posting comics to Instagram at a rate of about once a week.

Unfortunately, algorithms are the new comics/record/video store clerks and exist solely to slap art out of your hands. So if you miss the IG posts, know that those comics will be reposted here in their original form, occasionally accompanied by extra first-run material (see the Alan Moore strip).

That new comics every week pace isn’t something I’m chiseling in stone, but it’s been rewarding and fun, so I’ll try to keep at it.
